A Matter of Spelling

Doing searches on the Internet quickly introduces you to the vagaries of spelling.  Take for instance the name of the town we focus on — Raczki.  In Roman letters that is the way you may see it spelled in Google Maps.  But in Hebrew (or Yiddish) characters you may see it spelled ראַצק and transliterating that might give you Ratsk.  So, there is no one right way, and if you intend to do some seaching yourself, be sure to search on alternate spellings.  BR

Raczki

The spelling might also vary by year, as shown from a page from Samuel Rose’s Identity book, in which it is spelled Ratzk, Russia.
